Once born, we all start the journey of life with a lot of companions. Most of the fellow passengers on this journey are more competitors than companions. We should stay focused to achieve success and gather the gifts on the road ahead of others. Those of us who get distracted will gather leftovers of the people ahead of us. Following are the distractions (arranged in their order of ill effects) that we will encounter on our journey through life.

1) Shortcuts through the bushes.
Even though these take us to our destination, the experience is not the same compared to those who traveled the route defined by the wise men. Those who traveled the shortcut can not stand the face to face competition with those who traveled the course.

2) Rest areas with food and drinks.
These are available along the way. There is a right way to use them and there are many ways to abuse them as well. Right way is to replenish and rejuvenate to stay ahead of the crowed. Be mindful that other are passing you by while your taking a unreasonable rest.

3) People and Attractions come your way.
Be vigilant to evaluate people you meet and each of the attraction that comes your way. Do not make friends with people of ill repute, they will not only slow you on your journey but may also convince you that your journey is not worth the cause. For want of time, you do not have to make your own judgment on each person you meet. So follow the accepted notions. If someone is a prostitute that does not mean she is a bad person. But we do not need to associate with her. If some is a drug user, we do not want to associate with that person as well. It is not a judgment on those people; it is a statement that we do not need to test our strength of character. We do not want step on snake’s tail or poke in its mound to test our courage.

Stay true to the course, do your best and leave the result to God almighty.
Every journey is unique and special in its own way. So cheer the winners and help the less fortunate.

Fathers, husbands, mothers, brothers, sisters, teachers and managers.
They are all around us.
The more they love the more burdens to bear.
They give advice about form and function.
They give direction for every move and motion.
They expect achievements they could not achieve themselves.
Innocent aggressors will find faults with the pitcher over a perfect game.
They never indulge in an accolade or admiration.

I, you and all we know are vulnerable to become one.

To teach some one is to teach them the process of learning.
To help some one is to acknowledge the achievements.

Recognize the function is the destiny, form is the journey.

To love some one is to set them free on their journey of life.

Oh my mind, take a pause and watch the world go by.
Having been on the journey of life, long and continuous
Had not many chances to pause and ponder.

Be the spectator rather than an athlete,
Be the palm tree on the coast rather than the agitated reflection in the river,
Be the life guard rather than a frolicking person on the beach.

Be an audience to your own show.

Ocean deep and blue with plenty of water
run not to the ocean to quench your thrist

Well in the ground has a limited suppy of water
get a container and quench your thrist

Ask not the most wealthy friend to tame your trouble
Ask the most compassionate friend to consider your case
Pride not the number of wealthy friends
All you need a couple of compassionate friends.

Fret not the evaporation of water of a pond by Sun
Wait for the rain clounds gather that water together

Fear not the passing of seasons and years
Next generation is getting ready to make world much better

Fear not the loniless of an empty nest
Children will gain great knowledge before they return

Patience is the best of all virtues.
Practice with pride every moment of life.

Teachers are farmers of culture.
Teachers seed the minds of society.
Seeds will harvest in all that a society needs.
Teachers create teachers to replace the teachers.
Keystone for humanity is the teacher.

Respect your teacher along with your parents.
Parents are the first teachers of all cultures.

Make your teacher proud.
Learn well while you are a student.
Teach well what you know with commitment.

Clouds gather together dark and dense
throwing thunder bolts with lightening
attack the mountain on a monsoon day.

Mountain of rock stands its ground
and drain the clounds of their water.
Mountain of mud succumbs to them
by melting away piece by piece.

Man gets attacked by vices of the world
known and unknown, by wish or by chance.
One with strong character will triumph over them
and seeks a path joy rather than a path of pleasure.

A candle melts away to provide light successfully
A rice plant self-pollinates to provide grain successfully
A nun scarifies a life to help others successfully
Successful act is to be measured by the numbers it served.

Give me a life without begging and pleading
Give me a death without pain and suffering
Give me a place near you after my death
Please give me, my dear God Almighty.
(Ancient Hindu Prayer)

Our body is a chariot pulled by five horses.

Sense of vision
Sense of speech
Sense of taste
Sense of hearing
Sense of touch

The charioteer who can reign in these horses to lead them on a path of moderation will lead a life of fulfillment and happiness. (Bhagavadgita)
